ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

Objective

This activity aims to encourage the conservation and preservation of native bees in the local fauna, through teaching meliponiculture, creating meliponaries and planting plant species native to the Cerrado, in addition to raising awareness among children about recycling waste to maintain the biome.

Methodology

To carry out this project, agreements will be established with the State Secretariat for the Environment (SEMA), the State Secretariat for Education (SEE), the State Secretariat for Agriculture (SEAGRI), and the City Park Administration to accommodate children aged five to twelve. After selecting the participating schools, a lecture circuit will be organized at the schools, covering the topics "Children and the Practice of Recycling"; "The Difference Between Stingless and Stingless Bees"; "Stingless Bees and Pollination in Parks"; and "Planting Native Trees and Why We Need to Save the Cerrado."

At the end of the lectures, learning materials related to the lectures presented will be distributed so that participants can check the data presented at home and share it with other individuals who were unable to attend the lectures, such as family members.

Another step is the planting of trees by children and adolescents. This step will take place outside of school in locations predetermined by the degraded areas restoration project. The route will be covered by a chartered bus through a partnership with Parque da Cidade. We will maintain contact with the children by monitoring the growth of the planted tree. This means we will publish photos and updates about the tree on the website, thus strengthening the child's connection with the project and, consequently, with the environment.

Goals

Reach and educate 480,000 children and adolescents in the DF public school system by spreading awareness about recycling solid waste, respect for the environment, and about beekeeping and the importance of pollination.

Action Plan

- Native bees of the Federal District

- Importance of recycling and waste

_ Difference between stinging bees and stingless bees

- Planting native trees and their importance for the Cerrado
